Before a skin prick test

Stop taking antihistamines 4 days before the appointment, and stop applying local corticosteroids (triamcinolone) at least one week before the appointment.

Before a patch test

This test requires two appointments: one to apply the patches and one to read them. Please bring the foods to be tested with you. If you would like to decide together which foods to test, this can be done during a first consultation, during which the medical history will be completed and the clinical questions clarified.

Before spirometry

Stop taking short-acting bronchodilators (Ventolin) 4 hours before the test, and long-acting bronchodilators (Seretide) 12 hours before the appointment. Inhaled corticosteroids (Flixotide) and antihistamines (Aerius) may be continued.

Before a polygraphy / polysomnography

Sublingual desensitization follow-up

Please book a follow-up appointment once you reach the vial at the increased concentration (300 IR).

Consult if clinical signs appear during dose escalation. Do not force the dose increase if clinical signs appear (rhinitis, rash, cough, abdominal pain). To avoid abdominal pain, you can spit out the drops after holding them under the tongue for two minutes — swallowing them is not necessary.

If you experience mouth ulcers, a mouth wound, dental surgery, fever, vomiting or an asthma attack, stop the desensitization until the clinical signs resolve.

If you were already in the maintenance phase and the interruption lasted less than 7 days, you can resume at your usual dose. If the interruption lasted 7-10 days, resume at the starting dose of the current vial and increase gradually. If the interruption was longer, or if clinical signs appeared during the initiation phase or upon resuming, please consult to determine the approach best suited to your situation.
